Old School Looks

By Tyler Brooker We have found countless ways of “improving” our self appearance. These ways could be makeup, hair dye, breast implants, clothing, or anything else that can alter the way you look. In my opinion, these are not all necessary, but who am i kididng? These are pretty cool inventions. Have you ever watched and laughed at a sixties, seventies, or eighties movie? That is what sparked this very article, or more specifically, glasses. Wow! They had no style whatsoever! I suppose for their time they did, but by todays standards, those magnifyers are disgusting! Back then, people wore glasses because they had to, not becuase they could look good. Today, you see girls and guys with some flashy looking glasses. Heres a little input from yours truly - They have no perscription! Thats right. They wear them for an image. Glasses are a style these days that was never thought of by the generations before us. So here is my question, Weren’t they searching for an alternitive years ago? Contact Lenses would have made seventies movies WAY less painful. Now, after saying this, what will people say about us in 20 or 30 years? Surely we are not stuck up and naive enough to say that our style is as good as it could ever be. That is like proposing that our technology can no longer advance! Did they think they had style down in the sixties? Questions to ponder keep a mind active, regardless how unimportant they may be. So stay sharp and wonder these ridiculous wonders with me! Feel free to reprint this article as long as you keep the article, this caption and author biography in tact with all hyperlinks. Music To Your Ears - The Healing Way

By Eric Cho Shakespeare once said, If music be the food of love, play on. The power of music over the human mind is enormous, and thats putting it lightly. Music therapy is the use of music for therapeutic purposes by a trained professional. The idea of using music as a healing influence dates back to the time of Plato and Aristotle. In the modern world, music for therapy came to the fore when musicians played for war veterans to cure them of physical and emotional trauma. Since many of the patients responded well, nurses and doctors began requesting the services of musicians for therapy. Soon, music therapy became recognized as an effective and scientifically-backed mode of treatment. The first music therapy degree program ever was established in 1944 in the State of Michigan, U.S. A trained music therapist gauges the emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning and cognitive skills through the patients responses to music. Once the assessment is complete, the practitioner designs music session for individuals or groups. The therapeutic music is prepared based on client needs and uses music improvisation, song writing, lyric discussion, imagery and musical performances. Using music for therapy can be a very powerful way to reach children and adolescents. Elderly people and people with developmental and learning disabilities, people suffering from Alzheimers disease and age related problems and people in acute pain also benefit from music therapy. Music therapy is a powerful way to help people express their feelings. Professional music therapists are usually found in rehabilitative facilities, psychiatric hospitals, medical hospitals, drug and alcohol programs, nursing homes, correctional facilities, schools and private practice. Some people mistakenly believe that a patient needs to have some particular musical ability to benefit from therapy. There is no one particular style of music that is more therapeutic than the rest. Any style of music can be equally effective. Any person can be a patient. The patients background, needs and history help determine the type of music used. Even healthy people can make use of the healing powers of music. Listening to or making music, playing or drumming can greatly reduce stress and improve productivity. Research shows that music is a vital support for physical exercise. Music therapy is even said to assist labor and delivery. In hospitals, music therapy is used to alleviate pain and is often used in conjunction with anesthesia or pain medication. A question that is often raised is why use music if anesthesia does the same thing? Music helps because it dissolves emotional barriers and elevates the patients mood. Music also counteracts depression, calms and even sedates patients. In a nutshell, music helps reduce muscle tension and brings on a deep and satisfying relaxation. Since 1994 music therapy has been identified as a reimbursable service in the U.S. Music therapy is considered active treatment when it meets the following criteria: -Is prescribed by a physician -Is reasonably necessary for the treatment of the injury or condition -Is based on a documented treatment plan -Is showing some sort of result in the patient The future of music therapy is indeed very promising as more and more research supports the effectiveness of music against diseases like Alzheimers and chronic pain. Cattleya Orchid Plant - Why They Are Not Popular

By Robert Roy How popular is the cattleya orchid plants? Are they grown by hobbyists or not? How big is the flower? Why are they not popular? Before we get into the answers for these and other questions let’s look at a bit of history of the cattleya. It is fascinating! Cattleya orchids have been named since the early 19th century. William Cattley was credited with starting some hybrids from orchids sent to him as packing. The earliest named cattleya was the Cattleya labiata. Since then there has been a mystique about them. From the hobbyist perspective they are probably the most popular plant . The cattleya orchid plants have one of the largest flowers, 5 inches across. They are harder to grow as most of them flower only once per year. And the flowers last only about 2 - 3 weeks. Although the hobbyists are the ones particularly taken with cattleya plants now. They are becoming popular with non-hobbyist because of the size of the flower. These large flowers are exquisite and unique for corsages. For the cattleya orchid plants to become a main-stay of orchids several things are happening today. The new hybrids are lasting longer and they are blooming more than once per year. It has been shown that the orchids now can be bred for more frequent blooming. This is important for the non-hobbyist who doesn’t want the plant to be just leaves for 49 weeks a year. Cattleya orchids also will show the flower for more than 2-3 weeks and some of the hybrids have been shown to have flowers for up to 5 -6 weeks. Blooming more than once per year is important and actually has sponned another sub-industry. Some of the nurseries across the country will “board” your cattleya between blooming seasons. Currently the orchid registry in England has not added many hybrids. Over the last 100+ years the numbers have been essentially stagnant. This means these orchid plants have been primarily in the hands of hobbyists and not the general public. Cattleya must be easier for folks to grow because most of us do not enjoy the benefits of a greenhouse. Indeed, cattleya orchid plants growers have been making some good progress in the frequency of cattleya blooming frequency and increasing the length of time that the flowers stay in bloom. I feel it will be over the next 2 - 5 years you will see the popularity of these beautiful plants increase. Did you enjoy this article? If you did sign up for more in our monthly newsletter. The Many Uses of Fennel, the Versatile Herb, Spice and Remedy

By James Penn Fennel is one of the most versatile plants there is, every bit of the plant can be used including roots, stalk, leaves and seeds. It is one of the oldest herbs and spices used and were introduced by the ancient Greeks. Now it is grown in several countries and has become native in the USA. When used as a spice in foods it is mild and has a sweet and aromatic bouquet. It tastes very similar to anise only very much milder and the seeds are long, thin and curved with color variation from light green to brown. Fennel seeds can either be crushed in a spice mill or used whole, in the past puritans would chew it during the long church services they held. Culinary uses Fennel when used as an herb has many culinary uses, with the leaves being used as a favorite in Italian and French cooking with its main use in sauce for fish. It is also used throughout the world to flavor bread, confectionary and cakes and is used in several liqueurs. It is also one of the main ingredients in Chinese five spices and is used as flavoring in curries. It is without a doubt one of the most versatile plants known to man and along with its uses in the food industry is also an ingredient in many over the counter herbal remedies. Medicinal uses If you have problems with sore or tired eyes then you could try fennel, it has long been used as an eyewash. It is thought to help with irritations of the eye and to bring immediate relief from eyestrain. Fennel is often sold as a remedy for babies and children, who are suffering from colic problems and is used as a drink to bring immediate relief. While if you are suffering from strep throat or laryngitis then gargling with fennel can help to reduce inflammation and ease the croakiness of your voice. If you suffer from respiratory problems such as coughs and bronchitis then fennel could help to ease your congestion and is a useful remedy for catarrh. The seeds of fennel have been used in the treatment of heartburn, bloated feeling and indigestion quite successfully and currently trials are being undertaken into its usefulness for regenerating the liver. In renaissance Europe it was used to keep hunger at bay and was thought to be helpful in curing obesity. While studies are currently taking place at the other end of the scale as fennel is being tested in trials as a possible treatment for the disease anorexia nervosa. Fennel is considered to be a cure for many stomach related problems, particularly effective in reliving gas and cramps. It is also used to relive high fevers and is a natural pain reliever, many of the over the counter herbal remedies that you buy contain fennel as it is used as a flavoring agent. Foreign Love?

By Jo Robinson The Internet is certainly a great way to make new friends and find dates in your neighborhood, but what about all over the world? The answer is yes because the Internet is worldwide and you can meet individuals from anywhere simply sitting in your home on your computer. Because of this you need to be careful about beginning online relationships with individuals in foreign countries. This is not because these individuals are wrong to date; it is simply a consideration that when you want to meet your new love you will probably be the one to travel because getting a visa to the US or another industrialized country can often be very difficult. Another reason that dating an individual in a foreign country should be considered is what will you do if you fall in love? Of course, this seems like a lot to think of before it ever happens to you. However, it is worthwhile to consider because if you do fall in love and want to meet and get married you will have to consider visas or else moving to that country yourself. Are you prepared to live in a foreign country? Are there job opportunities? Do you speak another language? Could you live away from your family? These are all things that should be considered before ever starting an online relationship with someone in another country because all of these topics will come up. If you do decide to bring your fiance/ee to the US, UK, or other industrialized country you will have to fill out a lot of paperwork, file fees, hire a lawyer, and wait a long time. Even then the visa might not be approved and then where are you left? As a result, sometimes online dating of individuals that are not in your home country can cause a lot of hurt and heartache simply because once you decide you are in love and want to get married the road just extends longer until you can be together. A great benefit of the Internet and online dating is that you can meet individuals worldwide, experience new cultures, new languages, and the like. However, consider the above questions before beginning a relationship with someone who does not live in your country because more times than not the relationship will not make it through the adversity that is posed. Just keep this in mind and if you are willing to put forth the effort, go ahead, but it is nice to know where you stand before you get involved and get hurt or cause someone else pain. The Psychology Of Packaging - Part II

By Michael Russell Welcome to part II of our 3 part series entitled “The Psychology Of Packaging.” In the first instalment we focused on some of the products and their packaging and why they’re packaged in that manner. In this instalment we’re going to focus on some other packaging schemes. You’ll understand why these people are paid so much money to come up with this stuff after reading. Let’s start off with candy bar wrappers. Take a good look at these things, and there are plenty of them to choose from. Candy bars range from the pure milk chocolate type such as Hershey’s, and Nestles to the candies that are usually filled with something, like Milky Way, Three Musketeers, Mounds, Kit Kat, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and so on. If you take a very good look at the packages they are VERY colorful. Butterfingers are a nice yellow package with blue lettering. Reeses are kind of a reddish orange package with yellow lettering. Nestles Crunch Bars are 3 colors of red, white and blue. Guess there’s something patriotic going on there. And then you open up these very pretty wrappers and take out this mono color, not very appealing looking hunk of chocolate. The candy never looks as good as the wrapper. Reeses Peanut Butter Cups actually look like light colored mud you’d find out in the street. But boy, that pretty wrapper. Yes, candy bar manufacturers really earn their money from the packaging department with these gems. So we don’t get too hungry, let’s move on to a different kind of packaging. Copy paper. If you think wrapping up dull looking candy bars in all this colorful fluff is interesting just take a look at the boxes and packages that copy paper comes in. I mean, have you EVER seen the package that Georgia Pacific copy paper comes in? The wrapper is brown on top, blue on the side and white covering the remainder except for a photo of a woman working in an office. Oh and underneath in big numbers is the number of sheets in the package, brightness and weight of the paper. I guess they don’t want us to miss these important specs. This is some of the most beautiful packaging you’ll ever see and then you open up this gorgeous package and inside is nothing but white paper. Since this is something that we buy because we need it and for no other reason, did they really think that if they just put the paper in a plain brown wrapper that we wouldn’t buy it? Amazing. Now Xerox, is a little different. See, they are a very big name in the copy business so their packaging is much plainer, usually one color. What is prominent about the package is the name, XEROX, right up there in big bold letters. It seems that’s all anybody needs to see and they’re sold. After all, if it’s Xerox it has to be the best. In the final instalment of packaging we’ll cover some packages that you’re sure to find very interesting, including some very unusual packaging. ——————————————————- Michael Russell Your Independent guide to Packaging ——————————————————- Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Michael_Russell http://EzineArticles.com/?The-Psychology-Of-Packaging—Part-II&id=115981 christmas faxless online payday loan no credit check car loans aw wish pay day friday lyrics fixed interest personal loans

Zen and the Art of Mastering the Phone Interview

By Ryan Stewart For many, phone interviews are the hardest thing about the pharmaceutical sales job search. Nearly every company uses an initial “phone screen” in their process however so it’s important to know what you can do to ensure you perform well during the phone interview process. Here are 10 ways to improve your chances of success. 1. Use a land line. This doesnt take much explaining. Interviews are hard to come by. The last thing you want to do is drop the . . . hello. Hello? Can you hear me? I think you get the point - and dont use a speaker phone. 2. Dress for success. Go through the normal routine you would have if this had happened to be a face to face interview. For instance, if you expect the call at 10a.m., dont roll out of bed at 9:15 and expect to be ready for the call. Get up at your normal hour say 7a.m. Do a bit of studying over a light breakfast, shower, shave and dress as if you were going to a real interview. OK, you can lose the jacket and tie. But look nice, will ya? It sounds silly but taking these steps will trick your body into thinking it needs to be at the top of its game. And your body will come through in the clutch. 3. Center down. Allow yourself a bit of time (15 minutes or so) before the call to relax. Spend that time breathing deeply, forcing the thoughts of the company, the job and the interview out of your mind. With every exhalation, let the stress that has built up in your neck and shoulders escape. This practice will allow your brain to work free from stress when the phone rings and will set the tone for your breathing during the interview itself. 4. Talk with your hands. Allow yourself to use your hands while talking. Studies show that your brain can think of the exact words you want to use more easily when you allow your hands to move freely as you would in normal conversation. 5. Smile. When someone smiles when your talking on the phone, you can hear it. So will your interviewer. Do it and make him/her feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. 6. Hydrate. Keep some water handy. You dont want to keep the interviewer waiting if you get choked up or your mouth gets dry (and it will). By the way, excuse me, I need to take a drink of water is always an acceptable way to stall if you need a few extra seconds to think. 7. Check for agreement. If Ive said it once, Ive said it a thousand times. The job interview is a sale and the product is you. There is one question that is a salespersons best friend and it is, “Did I answer your question completely?” Questions like this give the interviewer the opportunity to ask more questions of you and take away the opportunity for him/her to make excuses as to why youre not a good fit. 8. Close. Youre a salesperson and salespeople close. Even though you know the interviewer probably won’t be able to commit to moving you further in the process ask him/her to do so anyway. 9. Mind your posture. Sit up straight in a quiet place with all your notes in front of you OR (even better) lay your notes out on a desk or large workspace and stand up while you talk. Youll also use your hands more if youre standing up. 10. Control. Your. Cadence. When we’re nervous, we have a tendency to talk fast. Make a concerted effort to slow your speech and enunciate. Youre interviewer will appreciate your articulation and your brain will have more time to think about the right things to say. Can you hear me now? Good. Breaking Up Is Hard to Watch

By Yana Berlin What can be worse than breaking up with your first love? Think back to that magical first time you fell in love. Remember the butterflies in your stomach, the sparkle in your eyes, and the stupid smile on your face? How even 10 minutes apart from your newfound love could seem like an eternity? How the simple act of holding hands could make you feel like the most special person on the planet? Now fast-forward a few weeks, a month, or perhaps even years ahead, and what happened? You broke up and went your separate ways, most likely never to see each other again. Nothing prepared you for the pain, the tears and the emptiness that ensued. The smile vanished from your face, the sparkle left your eyes, and all you had left was a big, empty hole in your stomach. Remember how it felt like the end of the world, like nothing could ever hurt that badly again? Well, here it is 25 years later and you realize that the pain you felt then cannot even remotely be compared to what youre going through now. What on earth could possibly be worse then breaking up with the love of your life? The answer is simple — its watching your child break up with the first love of her life. You know that it almost doesnt matter what you say in order to make her feel better. You remember (even if it was a quarter of a century ago) how your own mother consoled you and promised that the pain would go away and you would love again. You remember how you spent hours crying yourself to sleep, wishing that it was all just a dream. And you recall that it took time, and many dates later, to realize that life wasnt over and the best was yet to come. Most of all, you want to wave a magic wand to take the pain away and make everything all right. Instead, you rock your baby in your arms, bite your tongue, and try not to say all the things that seem right and necessary, the same words of wisdom your own mother had for you. You hold her tightly and hope that her pain will subside very quickly, and that you can provide the on-going support and open communication she needs at this time. And as you sit there fighting to hold back your own tears, you take some comfort in the knowledge (borne from your own painful experience) that this is, after all, only a temporary condition. Cell Phones and the Future of Communications

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Steven_Minor]Steven Minor What is in store for the communications industry and cell phone technology? What can you expect to become available with your cellular phone? Is regular telephone service an obsolete technology? The communications industry has been thriving for more than half a century. With so many technological advancements and innovations, where is it all headed? While many mom and pop businesses are either staying with traditional land line based telephone and long distance service, a good number of them along with an increasing number of mid sized companies are moving on to high speed voice over Internet protocol or VoIP phone services. This allows them to use their Internet connection as their telephone connection helping them to cut costs and raise their bottom line. Cell phones are making huge strides in their capabilities as well. Not only can you talk and send text messages with your cell phone, but you can check your email, stock quotes and a variety of other services along with surfing the Internet. Recently the cell phone companies have upgraded their services to include high speed cellular connections. So, now you can do even more with your wireless phone. With so many office based companies using a combination of VoIP and standard phone services, the vast majority of contractor related companies have been using cell phones to conduct their business for years. Now, not only can the contractors stay in touch with their home office, they can update service call statuses in real time, check their scheduled house calls with more freedom, and respond more quickly to customer’s needs. In the future you will probably see nearly all brick and mortar businesses using Internet based telephone services and wireless phones becoming more and more like computers. We can already see cell phones with full keyboards like the Blackberry and others. You will likely see cell phones with outlets that plug into your car’s computer to help you find directions. You could soon be making hotel and flight reservations over the Internet while driving to work in the morning simply by talking to your cell phone which would be plugged into your cars computer planning out your route to the airport and looking up what sights and events you want to visit on your trip; all this just by speaking commands that your phone would understand and perform. The future of communications is exciting to say the least. Innovation and imagination is the key to this intense growth of technology.
